Fred Quant in Zlin

6th seminary of Shinto Muso Ryu in the Czech Republic

This seminar with Fred Quant was again held in Zlin from April 9 to 10, ‘05. For this weekend were gathering 30 participants from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland (seitei jodokas), Romania and France (Serge Délye). For some of them it was the first seminar, the others are training regularly for a couple of years.

We were practising both within level groups and also together with beginners for which the jo practice and also the bokken part were something really new. Fred again draw up the program in a way to teach something new for each participant.

Beyond the seminar we organised a short public embu of Shinto Muso Ryu on the 9th of April, which was attended by about 20 spectators. For the demonstration the most advanced students helped to present the program. We presented the kihon tandoku and sotai, six kata of omote, five chudan, tanjo (5) and kenjutsu (4). So we hope they liked it.

The seminar was successful also from the organizer side. No snow, no freeze, only a little rain and all routes from and to the airport, through the city and on the highway were fast and with the right "riai". I hope that the next seminar will be even better.
